Michelle Brunjes

Fine Arts Teacher

An extremely smart and funny New Jerseyite who has embraced all things southern, Jane started teaching at Coastal Day School in 2009. She is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education. Post-graduation, Jane spent eight years teaching students with learning disabilities and severe behavior disorders. She has three awesome sons who are all Coastal Day School graduates! We are honored and thankful to have her as part of our team.

Veronnica joined our team in 2013. She has a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in Early Childhood from Penn State University. One of Veronnica's favorite experiences was teaching 2 and 3 year olds in the Dominican Republic for a year. Veronnica is happily married and mommy to a super cute little girl! Veronnica loves everything Wilmington has to offer and is excited to be a part of the CDS family!

Caroline is from Chapel Hill, NC, and graduated from UNC in 1990 with a Bachelor's degree in Communications and a minor in Public Relations. Raised in a family that placed a very strong emphasis on academia, she grew up surrounded by authors, musicians, scholars and artists-but what she loved most were the children she regularly babysat. Married to Michael, she has three wonderful children of her own and they are every bit as precocious as she was when she was young. In addition to assisting with the oversight of Coastal Day School, Caroline is a full-time real estate agent.

Ready to take on the adventure of teaching our two year old class, Laura joined our team in 2016 after years of teaching 3-5 year olds in different preschool settings since graduating from CFCC. While Laura is very prepared and eager to be teaching our littles, she is most excited about what she will learn from them and the sweetness they bring to the classroom!  Laura, originally from Charlotte,  is a proud wife and mom to two sweet boys!

Born into a military family, Autumn has lived all over the south. However, Wilmington has been her home for almost 18 years. She graduated from UNCW in 2008 with her Bachelor's in Psychology. After realizing that Education has always been her number one passion, she returned to UNCW to earn her degree in Elementary Education and graduated in 2014, the same year she join the amazing staff at CDS! Autumn is excited to help students develop a love for learning!! Autumn has two super cute kiddos, who are the love of her life!

Our AWESOME Staff!!

Shelley has always had a joy for teaching and working with young children!  She received her BS in Early Childhood Education in 2012. Shelley and her husband have two amazing sons, both students at CDS! In 2013 Shelley joined our team here at CDS as the lead two-year-old teacher.  In  2015, Shelley and her husband were blessed with their second son and she decided to take a couple years to stay home with her boys.  As much as she loved the opportunity to stay home with her boys, she decided to rejoin the CDS team in 2017 as an assistant teacher in the four year old classroom.  As much as she enjoyed her time with the older group, she is very excited to be back to her roots with the two year olds!

Michelle joined Coastal Day School in 2008 and is our resident "Craft Queen". She has worked with children for 20 years and studied child psychology and development. The daughter of a career serviceman, she was born in Germany and has been all over the world. Michelle's favorite thing is to spend time with her husband and adorable daughter.

You could say that Jordan is CDS's oldest employee since she's been around since day one and even helped paint and swing hammers in the beginning! Upon graduating from CFCC in 2015, Jordan came on staff as an office assistant and has loved learning all about the inside workings of CDS! She's excited to learn and grow in her position and of course, she loves working with her mom, Miss Ashley :)

After graduating from Radford University in 2003 with a licensure in early childhood and early childhood special education, Caitlin taught First Step (a 4 year old program) for 4 years, followed by 1st grade for 7 years. Caitlin, her husband, and two sons moved from Hampton Roads, VA to Leland in August of 2014. She stayed home that year and the family welcomed another baby boy! In her spare time, Caitlin loves to read and go to the beach/pool with her guys. After 2 years at home, Caitlin is excited to be back in a  classroom and is especially excited for the creativity and enthusiasm kindergarten students bring to school!

Veronnica Padala

After School and Summer Camp Director and Three Year Old Teacher

Ashley moved to North Carolina from Pennsylvania in 2003. Her credentials include certificates in Early Childhood Education from both Pennsylvania and North Carolina as well as a certificate in Childcare Administration. Ashley taught preschool at Coastal Day School for seven years before putting down the stickers and playdough to give more attention to daily operations. Her heart remains in the classroom; however, she loves working alongside our amazing teachers, parents, and students. All things considered, her proudest accomplishments are her wonderful marriage and talented daughter.

Abby Blanton is a North Carolina native who loves sweet tea, the Tarheels and spending time with her awesome family and friends! She has worked with children for over 15 years in several different capacities before joining our team in 2015. With a background in Early Childhood Development, she has had the opportunity to work with children in all age ranges and abilities.
She loves playing with her two beautiful girls, date nights with her hubby, serving and worshipping at her church, and time spent on the beach.

Caroline joined our team in 2010 and is an absolute treasure. One of the things that we love most about her is that she is highly organized and loves to help keep our school meticulously clean! Raised in an Air Force family, she has lived all over the United States as well as in England. Her parents settled in the Philadelphia area while she attended the College of New Jersey, earning a degree in Elementary Education/Psychology. Caroline and her husband have three beautiful children.

Maggie enjoys spending time at the beach with her husband and four children and also really enjoys cooking and baking! We are excited to have her as part of our family and absolutely love her ability to remain calm under pressure and her laid back personality.
